These days...

Well then... a month has flown by, and things around this here blog have been rather quiet. Please bear with me as I find a blogging rhythm.

Things are slowing down here on Salt Spring...  we've had our first couple of frosts in the last week - which means no more strawberries from the garden, but fall harvest is in full swing. We had a lovely thanksgiving weekend - my contribution was cooking up gluten-free sweet potato pie for all, and we shared a gratitude circle and potluck meal with the island community. The fall colours are starting to paint the landscape - however, I must admit I find myself missing the grandeur of fall in Ontario.

Here are some snapshots of my daily comings and goings from the last month...

Animal Dreams

'Pay attention to your dreams: when you go on a trip, in your dreams you will still be home. Then after you've come home, you'll dream of where you were. It's a kind of jet lag of the consciousness.' - Animal Dreams, Barbara Kingsolver

A lovely quote I happened upon in my current read. Furthering my intention towards staying present.

Westward...

Welcome one and all, to this wee little blog. May it lend to snapshots and points of perspective on this journey I am ambling through.

I've been on Salt Spring Island for a little over a week now, and greatly enjoying it. Specifically, I'm working as a karma yogi at the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga. A community based on 69 acres of forest and meadows, with the 'hub' being a renovated 100-year old farmhouse.

We eat from the large organic garden - all meals being lovingly prepared with love and nutrition in mind. I have a mellow nook to call my own, looking out over the strawberry patch and pear orchard. On my 6am stroll to mysore practice today, two tame fawns and their mom - no more than 8 meters away - took in the misty morning view.

So I'm thankful. More to come :)
